Oh what a difference!

Oh what a difference sleep can make for a person! Daniel and I decided to try something on Saturday night called the "Ferber method." We were in desperation for something that would work so Landon would start sleeping more. Lately Landon had been waking up after only about 2 or 3 hours in his crib and out of exhaustion I would just take him out to the living room and let him sleep on me for the rest of the night out there. I just was too tired and didnt have the energy at the end of the day to put up a crib fight to try to get him to sleep in his crib. I guess I was creating a problem because he was relying on me to get him to sleep and in the process I was spoiling him and I was sleeping sitting up waking up VERY tired in the morning.
So what is the Ferber method? Well it's basically allowing your baby to "cry it out" but in a very scheduled strict pattern. The first night after your baby has been crying for 5 minutes you go in and try to console him. You cannot pick the baby up but just gently quietly let him know you are there. Then you go 10 minutes of crying before you console him the next time. And then 15 minutes the rest of the time until the baby falls asleep. The next night you up the increments 5 minutes so its 10,15, 20 til the baby is asleep but last night Landon fell asleep after only about 5 minutes of crying...TOTAL! We are already seeing improvements. 11 hours of sleep the first night...and 12 the second!
Our next decision is going to be getting cloth diapers. Daniel has already been looking into the different kinds of cloth diapers that are out there. Landon, of course, will have some cool ones! We definitely do not want to go "old school" with pinning. They have cloth diapers now that are water proof and have snaps. We just figure that if we are doing part of our diaper changes with cloth diapers and part with disposable...in the long run we will have saved some money once he is out of diapers in 2 years.

Daddy!

This was his reaction when Daniel came home the other day :)...all smiles

Nose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hmmmm it has a point to it?...................
This is good for pinching!!!!!

#1 Daddy!...Landon loves Daniel so much. He thinks he is the funniest guy in the world. Truly! No one can make Landon laugh more than Daniel can. I get a few laughs here and there and was proud of myself when I had Landon in giggle mode for about 2 minutes straight 1 time, but when it comes to Landon's daddy there's no competition! Daniel has never had more joy seeing a little kid smile and laugh at him as he does with Landon.

Ruling Out!

So, I admit. I took Landon to the Doctor's office again yesterday. I guess I thought there was a meaning to the madness. Why has Landon been screaming/crying his head off at different times? You never know when it will be but he gets to this point where you would think he is enduring horrible torture or something. He screams so loud you get this little vibrating in your ears... let me tell you, it is such a lovely sound! I try to calm him down and sometimes it's like he's telling me, forget it Mom...try all you want. Ok? So if it's not the diaper, you dont want to eat, and your toys arent good enough then what is wrong?
Anyways, I went to the Doctor's office to try to rule out an ear infection. I was pretty sure he didnt have one, but like I said I wanted to rule it out instead of sluffing things off and going with my instinct that he doesnt have one. I would hate to let an ear infection go if he has one and then feel bad about it later. So I took him in and after 30 minutes the Doctor finally came into the room. By this time Landon has had enough because he had to wait so long but I did find out that his ears are clear! That is ruled out..oh, thank God! Giving Landon medicine isnt the easiest task. He likes to spit it out and then I have to try to push the spit out medicine back in his mouth and try to get him to swallow it. Ok...so his ears are clear so I thought that the other reason would be teething but the Doctor threw in a new one. Maybe he has acid reflux? So he gave me a perscription to get him Zantac and he basically told me that if I dont see improvement after a day then I could just stop the medicine. Ok? I might as well give it a try.
The results? I am ruling out Acid Reflux! There was no difference in behavior after giving him the icky medicine and Landon is still having some spit up here and there. It has to be teething/boredom/tiredness. I guess I am just cooping him up too much. He loves to be around other babies and other environments. So if you have a little one and are looking for a child to have a play date with....let me know? I am sure Landon would love it.

Big Man

Loves them feet
.....and jumping
And of course...he is so proud of himself when he is standing, but who can blame him? He is only 5 1/2 months old!!!

Zoe: What is this baby doing hanging onto my cage?
Landon: Oh Zoeeee! I've got the power!
Haha! My two cute men. This picture is so cute! Pose Daniel....haha
A little miniture Daniel. Such a sweetheart! Sidenote:: still no teeth the picture just makes it look like he does.

FUNNY FISHY TOY!

Original Video - More videos at TinyPic

Dependence on You

I went to a concert at my church on Sunday night. It had been some time since I have been at a Sunday night service in the actual sanctuary. It was nice to be back... it's just so much better in the actual sanctuary than watching on the tv screen.
Anyways Jamie Slocum came to our church. I dont know if my readers are very familiar with him but he has done some country music...but mostly christian music. The song "Dependence on You" spoke to me- I hope it will speak to those who watch the music video posted. Landon really liked it and sat and watched very quietly. That's kind of a shocker because he is a loud wiggle worm.

Landon cute face!

Little Noland boy...cute little squinting eyes with happiness! I love this picture...one of my favorites!

Happy happy little boy!

Landon graduated this week! He got a new car seat! His infant car seat was getting kind of small and tight so Daddy went out and bought him a brand new one. Landon has a lot more room in his new one. He also got a new fish toy from Mommy. Its a mommy fish with 3 baby fish that are different plush shapes. They can either be out of the mommy's belly or inside. Landon really likes this toy.
Most of the time Daddy can really get Landon going with laughter, but today I caught the giggle bug. I had never heard him laugh so much and so hard. It was like listening to a little boy laugh. I guess that's what Landon is growing into...a little boy...and soon he will be out of the baby stage all together, yet I know he will always be my little baby that I will have such an attachment to. He recently started putting his arms out for me to pick him up. I just love it. He only does this with me, mainly when he is at his activity center. It is so cute and precious. I am so in love with our little guy and I find myself loving him more and more as each day passes. I am so blessed to be able to stay at home with him.

Play dates and fun!

Landon loved his play date with Gracie. Another one is scheduled for next week.

Landon's new friend Manny was born exactly 3 months after him. Manny is son to my friend Trista so they will be good friends in life. They were so cute together. Landon decided he would watch Manny swing and help monitor him. Too cute!

Landon was able to spend time with friends and have a couple play dates. He is such a social butterfly already! I am so proud of him...he just loves people and getting attention. Lots of smiles for everyone!

Our boy

1 year ago I passed out at work, while pregnant with Landon, and ended up in the E.R. Right before I had passed out I could feel something come over me. I was trying to pour up models at the dental lab and things started getting dark. I wanted water but I couldnt leave what I was doing because when a model is being poured if you just step away for literally 1 minute you will have a big stoney mess to clean up. It is more work to step away than just finishing what you are doing. I was in such a predicament. I called over one of my co workers (Brent) and asked him if he could finish for me and then next thing you know I am passed out on the dirty floor of the model room. When I came to it was like everything was in slow motion. It was like all the sound around me was mute except for one of my other co workers (Kelly) yelling "SHE'S DOWN! SHE'S DOWN! SHE'S DOWN!!! I heard her on the phone calling 911 and then within about 2 minutes the perimedics were surrounding me (along with a lot of the other people that worked in the office). Everything happened so quick and come to find out my co worker Brent caught me before I passed out- possibly saving Landon's life.
This week I went back to my old work. Though I was let go, without being told that I was being "let go" I still sometimes visit and bring Landon in to show him off. It hit me when we went in on Monday though...I was like that incident happened exactly 1 year ago to this week! I saw Brent and I told Landon to say "thank you" because if it werent for him I dont know if Landon would be here and our lives would be completely different.
Today he went to school for the first time! All the kids loved him and everyone thought he was so cute! I am now wondering if the first graders are now going to go home and tell their mom's and dad's that they want a baby brother or sister. Landon also enjoyed a play date with his cousin Gracie. She didnt seem to know what to do when he wanted to nurse off of her. He wanted to suck on her arm and he started pulling her shirt down. Hopefully he will out grow that stage soon because that would not be good when he really does start school.
I dont know what I would do without Landon. He is such a sweetheart. I love him more and more everyday.

Landon....what a wonderful little boy! Lately he has mastered his new skill of rolling over. It looks like it is so easy for him now. He is now spitting. I have always hated spit but when he does it I think it is so cute. It is like he is trying to do something with his lips together but ends up having spit come out. He is now trying to grab everything on his changing table. He grabs the baby wipes and pulls them onto himself...I move them, then he'll grab something else... the diaper rash cream, or his clothes. He has somewhat gone back to peeing while I am changing him. He doesnt do it every time but he did it twice last night...and sometimes he manages to get me. It's gross but kind of funny cause sometimes he does it and then gets this smile on his face and kind of laughs a small laugh. I cannot get over how cute he gets. Its like he gets cuter and cuter everyday. Can he get any cuter? I am so proud of him and love him so much.
